The preparation method comprises following steps: in an argon atmosphere, at a temperature of 10 to 40 DEG C, adding a metal complex (M) and a chiral ligand (L*) into a solvent (A), carrying out reactions for 0.5 to 6 hours under stirring to obtain a catalyst ([M]/L*), wherein the metal (M) can be any one of Ru, Rh, Ir, and Pd; adding phenyl(pyridine-2-yl)ketone derivatives, the catalyst ([M]/L*), a solvent (B), and an alkali into an autoclave in sequence, carrying out reactions for 2 to 24 hours ata temperature of 0 to 100 DEG C under a pressure of 0.1 to 10.0 MPa, after reactions, subjecting the reaction liquid to vacuum concentration to recover the solvent (B), then adding water, using ethylacetate to carry out extraction, separating the organic phase and the water phase, and drying the organic phase to remove the solvent to obtain (S)-phenyl(pyridine-2-yl)methanol derivatives.
