The invention provides a coal mine fire identification system and method, relating to the field of intelligent devices. The system comprises a plurality of image acquisition devices, a plurality of smoke sensors, a plurality of combustible gas sensors, a relay device, an image recognition device and an alarm device, wherein the image acquisition devices are configured to acquire images in the mine; the image recognition device is configured to recognize a suspected fire in the mine according to the images in the mine, and send a first alarm signal to the alarm device; the relay device is configured to send a second alarm signal to the alarm device according to the received smoke signal, and send a third alarm signal to the alarm device according to the flammable gas signal; and the alarm device is configured to perform an alarm operation according to the first alarm signal, the second alarm signal and the third alarm signal, thereby avoiding the condition of inaccurate fire judgment result and misjudgment of
