The invention relates to a metal oxide lightning arrester for GIS. A low-potential part of the lower part of a lightning arrester cylinder is of a necking-down close-up structure, the diameter of thelower part of the cylinder and the diameter of a corresponding base at the lower part of the cylinder are reduced, and the volume of the cylinder is reduced, so that the internal space of the cylinderis adequately utilized. Meanwhile, a conductive rod is directly fixedly connected to an insulator, and a voltage-sharing cover is fixed on the insulator in a top-pressure manner through a fixed connecting structure between the conductive rod and the insulator, so that components such as a touch seat and a voltage-sharing cover mounting seat are saved, the number of the components of the whole lightning arrester is decreased; and the periphery of the conductive rod can be completely covered with the voltage-sharing cover, so that the shielding effect of the voltage-sharing cover to the conductive rod is improved. 本发明涉及
