The invention discloses a guide rail type electric energy meter. The guide rail type electric energy meter comprises a processor, a relay circuit, a leak current transformer sampling circuit, a leak self-checking circuit and an alarming device, wherein the processor is used for controlling the leak self-checking circuit to perform leak testing at intervals a preset time threshold and determining whether the relay circuit is disconnected from electric equipment after leak testing is started, and if so, controlling the leak self-checking circuit to end leak testing and connecting the relay circuit, else, controlling the alarming device to issue an alarm. The guide rail type electric energy meter structures a leak self-checking system; the processor can timely control the leak self-checking system to perform leak self-checking to achieve automatic leak testing, so that a user's failing in discovering failure of a leak protecting system timely due to the fact of forgetting about testing can be avoided; when the l
