The levelling instrument comprises a levelling instrument body and a tripod; the levelling instrument body is provided with abase, and the tripod is provided with a supporting disc; the supporting disc is connected with the base through a magnetic positioning assembly to horizontally support the levelling instrument body; the magnetic positioning assembly comprises one or more strip-shaped permanent magnet positioning plates vertically arranged on the supporting disc; the base is provided with strip-shaped positioning grooves in inserting fit with the permanent magnet positioning plates; the ends, on the bottom face of the base, of the positioning grooves are open, and the ends, on the top face of the base, of the positioning grooves are closed; and when the permanent magnet positioning plates and the positioning grooves are completely inserted, the base and the supporting disc are concentric.
