The method comprises the steps: service types capable of being requested and called by a client are acquired, different timeout chains are built for different types of services, and a corresponding timeout time is set for each timeout chain; chain head nodes of all the timeout chains are associated through a preset ordered data structure to forma chain head tree; and timeout management requested by the client is executed according to the built timeout chains and the chain head tree, wherein timeout management comprises the steps of inserting event nodes into the timeout chains, deleting the event nodes in the timeout chains and adjusting the structure of the chain head tree.
