The present invention relates to a tabletop display device and a driving method therefor. The disclosed tabletop display device comprises: a flat display panel for displaying an image; a light-emitting unit provided along the periphery of the flat display panel so as to emit light on the inner side of the periphery and the outer side of the periphery simultaneously; a light-receiving unit for receiving light incident from the outer side of the periphery and the inner side of the periphery; and a control unit for detecting the location of a user on the basis of the light received from the outerside of the periphery and determining a touch position of the flat display panel on the basis of the light received from the inner side of the periphery, when the light received by the light-receiving unit is the light emitted by the light-emitting unit.
