The invention relates to a dredging device for urban inland rivers and an application method thereof. The dredging device comprises an excavation mechanism, a transverse truss arranged horizontally, and two vertical column trusses arranged at both ends of the transverse truss vertically. The upper ends of the two vertical column trusses are correspondingly connected with the two ends of the transverse truss through telescopic trusses. The upper end of the excavation mechanism is connected with the lower end of the transverse truss in a sliding mode. The lower ends of the two vertical column trusses are located on banks on both sides of a riverway.
