The invention provides an access control method and system based on face recognition. The access control method based on the face recognition comprises the following steps of: S1, collecting face image data in a coverage area; S2, detecting key point data in the face image data, and performing alignment calibration on the face image data according to the key point data; S3, converting the calibrated face image data into vector data; and S4, comparing the vector data with face white list data; and sending an opening signal when the vector data coincides with the threshold of a feature vector inthe face white list data, otherwise not responding. The invention facilitates the identification and management of the user by the access control system through the face recognition mode, which has high recognition efficiency and accuracy, facilitates the user who matches the condition to enter the area controlled by the access control system and improves the security of the area controlled by the access control system.
