The invention relates to an alpha-alumina carrier, a preparation method and application thereof, in particular to an alpha-alumina carrier for preparation of a silver catalyst and a preparation methodthereof, as well as a silver catalyst containing the carrier and a preparation method of the silver catalyst, and also relates to application of the silver catalyst in olefin oxidation for productionof epoxy compounds at the same time. According to the invention, by adjusting the carrier raw material granularity and variety, and adding a substance with pore-forming effect, the specific surface area, strength, water absorption and pore distribution of the alpha-alumina carrier are improved.
