The invention provides an air conditioner and a control method thereof. The air conditioner comprises an evaporator, a water pan arranged on the lower portion of the evaporator and an outer controller, and further comprises a U-shaped pipe. The U-shaped pipe is embedded into a heat radiation plate of the outer controller and communicates with the water pan through a pipeline. The control method controls the air conditioner.
