The invention further describes a light-emitting diode (1). The invention also describes a method of manufacturing a broadband mirror (1), which method comprises the steps of providing an outer surface layer (10) and applying a plurality of dielectric layers (11A, 11B, 12) to build a dielectric layer stack (11A, 11B, 12) underneath the outer surface layer (10), characterized by the step of patterning the surface of at least one dielectric layer (11A, 12) before applying a subsequent dielectric layer (11B, 12) to the patterned surface (110, 120).
