The invention relates to a device for steaming a component (1). The device comprises a conveying unit (2) with at least one conveying section (3) and at least one receiving element (4) which can be moved along the conveying section (3); a steaming unit (5) with sub-segments (6) which can be moved at least relative to one another and which can be moved between a closed position and an open positionand form a steam chamber (7) in the closed position; and a control unit which is connected to the steaming unit (5) and the conveying unit (2). The control unit obtains information on the position ofthe receiving element (4) from the conveying unit (2) and carries out an actuation process such that the sub-segments (6) are moved from the open position into the closed position if a component (1)secured to the receiving element (4) is positioned between the sub-segment (6) such that the component (1) is surrounded by the steam chamber (7), and subsequently an at least partially gaseous fluidis introduced into the steam
