The method comprises the following steps: establishing the relation between magnesium oxide hydration reaction rate and temperature, magnesium hydration degree as well as hydration reaction activated energy according to an Arrhenius formula; establishing a mathematical model of the magnesium oxide hydration reaction activated energy in the concrete in combination with the relation between the magnesium oxide hydration degree and concrete swelling capacity; and calculating the magnesium oxide hydration reaction activated energy in magnesium oxide concrete by the established mathematical model in combination with test data of autogenous volume deformation of the magnesium oxide concrete.
