The invention relates to a method of operating a printer (100) during pause of printing, wherein the printer (100) has a transporting device (1) provided with a rotary transporting component (10). Thetransporting device is used for enabling a to-be-printed object (1000) to pass through a printing station (13). The method includes the steps of: a) driving the printer to a disconnection position and separating driving connection between a main driver (2) and the transporting component (10); b) achieving effective connection to the driving connection between an assistant driver (3) and the transporting component (10); c) durably driving the transporting component (10) by means of the assistant driver (3) in order to homogenize heat distribution.
