The invention relates to a light emitting device, including a light emitting element (1) disposed on a substrate (15) which emits blue light, a green phosphor (13) that emits green light upon being excited by the blue light, a red phosphor (12) that emits red light upon being excited by the blue light, and a transparent resin (14) including the green phosphor and the red phosphor dispersed therein. The red phosphor is arranged to be in contact with the light emitting element and the substrate.
