The invention provides a treating system for phenol tar and a treating method thereof. The system comprises a phenol cutting tower and a coking unit, and a tower bottom material outlet of the phenol cutting tower is connected with the coking unit. According to the treating system, on the basis of treating the phenol tar by using an existing coking method, a pretreatment device (namely the phenol cutting tower) is newly added, phenol in the phenol tar is separated, the content of phenol in the tar is lowered to 500 ppm or below, and the safety problem of treating the phenol tar by using the coking method is solved. 本发明提供了种苯酚焦油的处理系统及其处理方法，所述系统包括苯酚切割塔和焦化单元，苯酚切割塔的塔底物料出口连接焦化单元。本发明在现有焦化法处理苯酚焦油的基础上新增个预处理装置(即苯酚切割塔)，分离出苯酚焦油中的苯酚，使焦油中的苯酚降低至500ppm以下，解决焦化法处理苯酚焦油所存在的安全问题。
