The sleeve gusset (24) comprises an interior facing (28) with a sleeve edge (36) and a body edge (38) and an exterior facing (26) with a sleeve edge (40)and a body edge (42). The sleeve edge (40) of the exterior facing (26) is coupled to the exterior shell layer (12) of the apparel item (10) while the sleeve edge (36) of the interior facing (28) is coupled to the sleeve (14). The body edge (42) of the exterior facing (26) is coupled to the body edge (38) of the interior facing (28). The body edge (38) of the interior facing (28) is further coupledto the inner liner layer (22).
