The invention provides a sealing material used between a coke oven protecting plate and an oven door frame. The sealing material is prepared from 100 parts by weight of a silica sol solution, 130-180parts by weight of aggregate and 15-17 parts by weight of an additive, wherein the aggregate is prepared from 45%-60% by mass of aluminium oxide particles, 20%-30% by mass of silicon dioxide particlesand 10%-35% by mass of talcum powder; the additive is prepared from a dispersant, a thickening agent and a water-based defoamer. The invention further provides a preparation method of the sealing material.
