According to the method of the invention, by recognizing a sky region and a non-sky region in a foggy color image, a global atmospheric light value is estimated in the sky region, the non-sky region is subjected to defogging according to global atmospheric light value, defogged images of the sky region and thenon-sky region in the foggy color image are combined, and a total defogged image is obtained.
