The invention discloses a device and a method for treating tail gas containing elemental sulfur and sulfur compounds. The treatment device comprises an incinerator, a waste heat boiler, a discharged tail gas-flue gas heat exchanger, a quenching tower, an absorbing tower, a lean-rich absorbent heat exchanger and a regenerating tower which are sequentially connected, and a hot lean liquid outlet atthe bottom of the regenerating tower is sequentially connected with the lean-rich absorbent heat exchanger, a lean liquid cooler, a solution buffer tank, the absorbing tower, a gas-liquid separator and the discharged tail gas-flue gas heat exchanger.
