Embodiments of the invention provide an audio output method and an electronic device, which are used for reducing the influence of an environmental audio on receiving of a target audio by a user. Themethod comprises the steps of collecting the environmental audio of an environment where the electronic device is located through an audio collection apparatus in each time period, and obtaining multiple instant environmental audio amplitudes and corresponding instant environmental audio phases; based on the multiple instant environmental audio amplitudes and the corresponding instant environmental audio phases in each time period, calculating an average environmental audio amplitude and an average environmental audio phase in each time period; based on the average environmental audio amplitude and the average environmental audio phase, obtaining a counteracting audio capable of counteracting the environmental audio; and when the target audio is output, outputting the counteracting audio to counteract the environm
