Zusammenfassung:The invention addresses the problem of measuring a marking interval without causing burden to maintenance personnel during inspection, and judging a degradation state according to the marking interval. The steel cable inspection system of an elevator in an embodiment of the invention has a sensor (21), an encoder (22) and an arithmetic device (23). The sensor (21) detects a plurality of marks setat some interval along a length direction of a main steel cable (10) serving as an inspection object. The movement of the encoder (22) and the main steel cable (10) synchronously generate pulse signals.
