The invention discloses a falling rail control system for a steel rail grinding motor. The falling rail control system comprises a grinding motor, a pressing oil cylinder, and a travel sensor; the grinding motor is driven to perform pressing operation through an expansion link of the pressing cylinder, grinding operation of a steel rail is carried out through a grinding head installed on the grinding motor, and the travel of the pressing cylinder is fed back through the travel sensor. When the travel sensor works normally, during the grinding motor from falling to the grinding head to be pressed into the steel rail, the grinding motor sequentially performs operation of rapid falling, downward pressure uniform reducing, proportion integration (PI) adjustment falling to a target travel, andfixed pressure falling to the steel rail.
