Zusammenfassung: | A rotor 21 of a stator 1 using a switched reluctance (SR) motor is directly coupled to a crankshaft 31 of an engine 2. The rotor 21 and the crankshaft 31 are set such that when a piston 32 is in the top dead center position or the like, salient poles 26a, 26c of the rotor 21 oppose U-phase poles 13U, so that the output torque of the stator 1 is the maximum at the maximum pass-over torque positionof the engine 2. When the engine 2 is stopped, U-phase coils 15U are energized, thereby stopping the salient poles 26a, 26c and the U-phase poles 13U in opposition to each other, and stopping the piston 32 at the maximum pass-over torque position. When the engine is started, W-phase coils 15W adjacent to the U-phase coils 15U are energized, and pass-over occurs with the maximum output of the maximum friction torque.
