The machining method comprises the following steps that 1, blooming forging is conducted on a cylindrical ZK61 magnesium alloy ingot, and a first forged billet is obtained; 2, upsetting and stretching forging is conducted on the first forged billet repeatedly, and a second forged billet is obtained; 3, final forming forging is conducted on the second forged billet, and a ZK61 magnesium alloy semi-finished forging piece is obtained; and 4, artificial aging heat treatment is conducted on the semi-finished forging piece, and the ZK61 high strength magnesium alloy forging piece with the thickness no more than 200 mm is obtained.
