Embodiments of the invention provide a system and a method for baggage check-in. The system comprises a server, a mailing unit, a loading and unloading unit, and a pick-up unit. The server is connected with the mailing unit, the loading and unloading unit, and the pick-up unit in a communication manner. The mailing unit is on a departure station, and comprises a first operation panel, a weighing module, a fee paying module, lockers, and a receipt output module. The loading and unloading unit comprises a lift, a platform rail car, and a conveyor belt. The pick-up unit is on a destination station, and comprises a second operation panel and lockers.
