The invention discloses an automatic winding and unwinding machine for cables of an electric system. The automatic winding and unwinding machine comprises a base and a motor controller. Two parallel supporting plates are arranged on the top face of the base. A plurality of wheels are arranged at the bottom of the base. A jack is embedded in the base. The output end of the jack is connected with a friction plate located under the base. The bottom face of the friction plate is in a sawtooth shape. A horizontal winding and unwinding roller is arranged above the base and located between the two supporting plates. Driven shafts are arranged at the two ends of the winding and unwinding roller and are rotationally arranged on the supporting plates. Limiting plates are arranged at the connecting positions of the winding and unwinding roller and the driven shafts.
