The invention discloses a water absorption floor tile and a preparation method thereof. A tile body of the floor tile is composed of a base layer and a surface material, wherein the base layer is prepared from the following components: 60 to 70 parts of base layer aggregate, 30 to 35 parts of cement and 10 to 12 parts of an adhering curing agent; the surface material is composed of quartz stones or fine sand grains. According to the water absorption floor tile and the preparation method thereof, disclosed by the invention, components, including the base layer aggregate, the cement and the adhering curing agent, for preparing the water absorption floor tile are reasonably proportioned so that the temperature resistance of the floor tile is improved and the floor tile is not easy to break and has a relatively strong water absorption capability.
