The invention discloses a power supply method and apparatus for an electronic device. The method is applied to the process of power supply for the electronic device by using the interface of the electronic device. The method comprises: power supply state information of a first power supply circuit for powering the electronic device is detected at an input terminal of the interface; when at least one feature value of the power supply state information is in a preset range, triggering is carried out to generate a control signal; and a switch circuit arranged at a second power supply circuit of the electronic device enables the second power supply circuit to be in conduction based on the control signal, so that the second power supply circuit assists the first power supply circuit to power the electronic device.
