The method comprises the following steps that operation parameters of a vehicle are obtained and at least comprise the vehicle speed, the engine rotation speed, the current throttle percentage and the engine cooling liquid temperature; a throttle percentage change rate is obtained according to the throttle percentage changes in unit time; the throttle percentage required by an engine is calculated according to the operation parameters of the vehicle, and a relative throttle percentage is obtained according to the required throttle percentage and the current throttle percentage; and engine operation is controlled to enter a cylinder complete operation mode or a cylinder deactivation mode according to the vehicle speed, the engine cooling liquid temperature, the engine rotation speed, the throttle percentage change rate and the relative throttle percentage.
