The embodiment of the invention discloses an image processing method and a terminal. The method comprises the steps of setting a camera to be a calling mode if the condition that a third-party application starts a camera application is detected; setting a current frame rate and a resolution ratio of the camera according to a preset frame rate range and the preset image resolution ratio corresponding to the calling mode, wherein a lower limiting value of the preset frame rate range is more than an initially set frame rate, and the preset image resolution ratio is less than the initially set resolution ratio; controlling the camera to perform image collection according to the current frame rate and the resolution ratio of the camera, thus facilitating the third-party application to process correspondingly according to a collected image. The terminal provide by the embodiment of the invention is beneficial to improving detection accuracy and sensitivity of the third-party application based on a camera detection
