The embodiment of the invention provides an object identifying and tracking method and device. The method comprises the steps that a current frame image to be identified is acquired in a video stream; an identified object in the current frame image is detected, and a detection box list is obtained; a superposition range of each first detection box and a corresponding second detection box stored in a preset object identification information table is determined according to each first detection box in the current frame image; and if any superposition range is greater than a first preset threshold value, it is determined that an object identifier corresponding to information of each first detection box is the same as an object identifier corresponding to information of the corresponding second detection box.
