The invention relates to the field of organic fertilizer preparation, in particular relates to organic fertilizer and a preparation method thereof. The organic fertilizer is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight: 40 to 60 parts of animal wastes, 50 to 70 parts of corn stalks, 0.2 to 1.0 part of urea, 30 to 50 parts of humic acid, 100 to 122 parts of bacteria stick contents, and 2 to 4 parts of beneficial mixed bacteria solution; wherein the beneficial mixed bacteria solution is prepared from the following bacteria solutions by balanced mixing 1.2 to 1.5 billion/L of spore bacteria, 1.3 to 1.5 billion/L saccharomycetes, 1.2 to 1.4 billion/L nuclear lactic acid bacteria, 0.6 to 0.8 billion/L nitrogen-fixing bacteria, 0.6 to 0.8 billion/L phosphate solubilizing bacteria; and 0.6 to 0.8 billion/L potassium bacteria; and the animal wastes are one or more than one of chicken manure, cow dung, sheep manure and pig manure.
