The invention relates to a cereal volume measuring device based on a linear array CCD and a measuring method thereof. The cereal volume measuring device comprises a CCD camera, a camera base, a camera fixing frame, a small ball, a spring, a sliding rail, an industrial personal computer, measuring cylinders, a background plate, a bottom fixing plate and a cereal containing device; the measuring cylinders are fixed to the bottom fixing plate and used for measuring different cereals, liquid with color is contained in each measuring cylinder, and the liquid is different from the background plate in color; the cereal containing device comprises a load and a cereal containing bag used for placing cereals in a sealed mode; the linear array CCD camera is vertically fixed to the camera base through the camera fixing frame; the sliding rail is arranged on the bottom fixing plate, and the industrial personal computer is connected with the linear array CCD camera through a data line. The defects of a single-grain cereal
