The invention provides an automatic button sorting method. The automatic button sorting method comprises the steps that (1) buttons are conveyed to a transmission unit through a feeding unit; (2) geometrical characteristics of the buttons are detected through an intelligent camera, and whether the buttons are inferior-quality products or not is judged; (3) images of front faces of the buttons are collected through the intelligent camera, the characteristics of the front faces of the buttons are extracted, and whether defects exist on the front faces of the buttons or not is judged; (4) the buttons flow out from a U-shaped steering sliding way, and automatic face overturning is achieved; and (5) images of back faces of the buttons are collected through the intelligent camera, the characteristics of the back faces of the buttons are extracted, whether defects exist on the back faces of the buttons or not is judged, if the defects exist, the inferior-quality products are sorted out through a sorting unit, qualif
