Provided is an illumination device that has low cost and a simple structure, that can be arranged in a curved interior trim member of an automobile without degrading a design property, that has little irregular-brightness and a high degree of freedom in terms of the brightness distribution, and that can perform subtle brightness control. An illumination device comprises: a light source (2); a long light guide rod (3) onto which light emitted from the light source (2) is caused to be incident; a housing (5) that accommodates the light guide rod (3); and a lens (4) that scatters light emitted from the light guide rod (3). The light guide rod (3) is flexible, is formed in a substantially linear shape and has a surface on which a light-emitting pattern for emitting light in a specific direction is formed. The housing (5) and the lens (4) are formed in a curved shape so as to fit the shape of an interior trim member.
