The invention provides a method and equipment for picture management in electronic equipment. The method comprises the steps that an instruction for storing a target picture is detected; when the instruction for storing the target picture is detected, whether a picture which is the same with the target picture is stored locally in the electronic equipment can be determined; and the target picture will not be stored locally in the electronic equipment when the detection result shows that the picture which is the same with the target picture is stored locally in the electronic equipment. According to the method and equipment, only the pictures which are not stored locally in the electronic equipment can be stored.
