Zusammenfassung:	The invention discloses a 5-nitroisophthalic acid cadmium polymer and a preparation method thereof. The 5-nitroisophthalic acid cadmium polymer belongs to a monoclinic system. The space group is P 21/n. Each basic structure unit contains a cadmium ion, a 5-nitroisophthalic acid anion, three parts of 4-phenylpyridine, a coordinated water molecule and a free water molecule. Two carboxyl groups of each 5-nitroisophthalic acid anion are coordinated with the two cadmium ions correspondingly in a chelate mode. A Cd (II) ion is of seven coordination. The Cd (II) ion is coordinated with two nitrogen atoms (N1 and N1A) from the two parts of 4-phenylpyridine, four oxygen atoms (O1, O2, O3A and O4A) from the two 5-nitroisophthalic acid anions and a water molecule. The bond length of Cd-O is between 2.3032 &Aring and 2.571 &Aring. The bond length of Cd-N is between 2.325 &Aring and 2.344 &Aring.
