Latch assembly for vehicle

A latch assembly (24) for a vehicle interior component includes a button (52) configured to move in a first direction in response to a depressing force, a first side arm configured to translate in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction in response to movement of the button (52) in the first direction, and a second side arm configured to translate in a third direction perpendicular to the first direction in response to movement of the button (52) in the first direction. The latch assembly also includes a cable (53) extending between the first side arm and a remote device (55), wherein translation of the first side arm in the second direction drives the cable (53) to retract from an extended position to a retracted position to actuate the remote device (55).
