The preparation method of the Cu2Zn1-xMnxSnS4 provided by the invention comprises: mixing a copper salt, a zinc salt, a manganese salt, a tin salt and thiourea with ethylene glycol, then carrying out reaction to obtain precipitate, washing and drying the precipitate to obtain Cu2Zn1-xMnxSnS4, with the Zn element in the zinc salt and the Mn element in the manganese salt being in a mole ratio of 0.4-0.8:0.2-0.6. The method has the characteristics of simple operation and low cost. In addition, the invention also relates to application of the Cu2Zn1-xMnxSnS4 in preparation of photocatalytic degradation materials and degradation of methyl orange, and the degradation process does not cause secondary pollution. The novel photocatalytic degradation material provides a new idea for treatment of water pollution.
