Zusammenfassung:	The invention provides a backup system for temperature control units of a liquid cooling unit and a control method thereof. The backup system comprises N operating temperature control units and M spare temperature control units, wherein all the temperature control units are connected by a communication network; and each temperature control unit outputs (N+M-1) operating-state dry contacts and reserves (N+M-1) digital input points for detecting the operating states of all other temperature control units except the current temperature control unit. The backup system and the control method provided by the invention have the advantages that the switching of the operating and backup states of all the temperature control units according to operating time and the fault level of all the temperature control units under the condition of normal communication and switching of the operating and backup states of all the temperature control units according to the fault level of all the temperature control units under the co
