The invention provides a method for file storage of an embedded system. The method comprises the steps that a virtual file system is established on a file in a file system of the embedded system, wherein the virtual file system comprises a file catalog item and stored file data, logic-physical block mapping, as well as log and cache management; and when a file is updated in the virtual file system, the name, size and file initial block number of the updated file can be recorded by the file catalog item. Through dynamic increase of the file catalog item, the quantity of films supported by the same is not limited any longer and the requirement for applying multiple shared libraries in the embedded system can be satisfied better.
