The application program freezing method includes: detecting a current working state of the mobile terminal, wherein the working state includes a standby state and a wake-up state; acquiring a pre-stored freezing priority of target application programs when it is detected that the working state of the mobile terminal is in the standby state, wherein the target application programs are at least two application programs which are determined according to use frequency/ use duration of each application program installed in the mobile terminal during a preset time period, and the freezing priority is determined according to unit time power consumption and use duration during a preset time period of the target application programs; and freezing the target application programs operating on the mobile terminal according to the freezing priority.
