The invention relates to an efficient touch screen text input system and method. The system comprises a touch point detection module, a query module and a result output module, and a thread management module is introduced, so that the system performs a query on input characters and candidate words of a user in an auxiliary thread by starting the auxiliary thread when touch press-down is detected by the touch point detection module, a main thread continuously detects whether touch release exists or not, and a time interval between the touch press-down and the touch release is fully utilized.
