Provided is an electronic device in which an auxiliary power source backup battery can be heated and checked for functionality with a simpler configuration. This electronic device is provided with a heater resistor (16) for heating a backup battery (14) built into an onboard emergency messaging device (1) and serving as an auxiliary power source to a main battery (7), and is also provided with first and second power switches (17, 18) for forming first and second power supply paths to supply power respectively from the main battery (7) and the backup battery (14) to the heater resistor (16).
