The terminal control method comprises the steps of detecting whether a terminal needs to be forcedly upgraded or not in a process of starting the terminal through a universal serial bus; and if it is detected that the terminal needs to be forcedly upgraded, preventing the terminal from entering a charging mode. With the adoption of the technical scheme provided by the method and apparatus, the terminal can be controlled to only enter a forced upgrading mode when being started through the USB (Universal Serial Bus), and the USB is enabled to no longer charge the terminal, so that the disorder of the starting mode of the terminal is avoided, the terminal is not stuck in the forced upgrading mode when being upgraded, and the terminal can be upgraded smoothly. 本发明提供种终端控制方法及装置，本发明的终端控制方法包括：在通过串行总线启动终端的过程中，检测终端是否需要进行强制升级；若检测到所述终端需要进行强制升级，阻止所述终端进入充电模式。采用本发明的技术方案，能够在通过USB启动终端时，控制终端只进入强制升级模式，使USB不再对终端充电，避免造成终端启动模式混乱，对终端进行升级时不会卡死在强制升级模式，使终端顺利完成升级。
