The firmware upgrade method comprises the following steps: after an upgrade notice issued from a gateway is received, if a wireless upgrade condition is met, requesting to obtain new firmware information from the gateway; when a detection result shows that local firmware is matched with the new firmware information and is verified to be effective, sending a firmware update confirmation request to the gateway; and when a firmware update confirmation command issued from the gateway is received, loading the local firmware into an equipment processor, and operating the local firmware after the local firmware is verified to be effective to finish firmware upgrade.
