The air conditioning outdoor unit comprises a fan, a compressor and a four-way valve; and the control method comprises the steps of: controlling the starting of the fan and the compressor to record the starting time length; judging if the starting time length is longer than a first preset time interval; and controlling the four-way valve to steer when the starting time length is longer than the first preset time interval. After the control method is adopted, even if a liquid refrigerant exists before starting of the air conditioning outdoor unit, and after the fan and the compressor are operated by the first preset time interval, the liquid refrigerant is changed to gas in the heat exchange cycle, so that the four-way valve is not easy to hydraulically shock during steering, and the control method can improve the operating reliability of the air conditioning outdoor unit.
