Zusammenfassung:	The invention provides a controller for reliably and selectively executing abnormal control operation in a controller formed by a CPU module and remote IO modules so as to achieve high reliability. The controller is provided with the CPU module and multiple remote IO modules. The CPU module is provided with an abnormal state detecting portion for detecting the abnormal action of the CPU module and performing program control on multiple machines in a factory. The remote IO modules is connected with the CPU module via a serial transmission path in a daisy chain way, converts digital data transferred by the CPU module and outputs the digital data to the machines. When detecting the abnormal action, the abnormal state detecting portion notifies the remote IO modules of the CPU anomaly. When notified of the CPU anomaly, the remote IO modules control the machines in stop states on the basis of the digital data.
